About Dr. Farinas

Picture

Practicing psychiatry, I provide "Integrated Behavioral Medicine" services. The dynamic interplay between neuroscience, biochemistry, stress, and lifestyle choices impacts health and emotional well-being every day. My goal is to stay current on research and medical developments then educate patients and their families and support the decisions they make.

Areas of expertise include: Mood & Anxiety Disorders, Prenatal-/ Perinatal-/ & Postpartum- Counseling & Treatment, Individual Counseling, Family & Couples Counseling, Child & Adolescent Mental Health, General Adult Psychiatry, Stress Management, Addictions/Compulsive Behaviors, Nutritional & Wellness Assessments, Women’s Health Issues, and Pharmacology.

To maximize outcomes I collaborate with other health providers caring for patients and family members. This process starts prior to treatment commencing and continues while we work together. I approach behavioral medicine in a very straightforward manner. Allowing patients and families time to formulate questions then taking my time to answer improves understanding and treatment results. Ultimately, I make recommendations you make decisions.

When not working I spend time with my husband, Mom, and puppy, Elroy, who accompanies me to the office each day. I also stay in close contact with my brother, who lives out of state, and friends all over the country. Cooking and eclectic creative outlets make me happy.

Cynthia Teague, LMHC, RN

Please join Dr. Farinas and staff as we welcome Cynthia, who is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Registered Nurse, to our practice. Cynthia received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas School of Nursing.  As a nurse, she worked in Pediatric Oncology, caring for the children with cancer, in addition to supporting and educating their families. She loved the challenge of caring for young people with cancer and understands that the whole family needs help coping, when a loved one suffers from a catastrophic illness. After almost two decades of nursing, supporting, and educating children and families, through cancer and other chronic medical illnesses, Cynthia decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in Community Counseling. Now, she has been in practice for over 10 years. Cynthia is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Sand Tray Therapy. Both modalities help people resolve distress and explain their emotions, when they can’t find, or don’t have, words to explain their feelings.

Cynthia enjoys working with children, adolescents, adults, and families.
